By Timothy Wekesa.
The government has affirmed that preparations for this year’s Madaraka day ceremony are on a final course.
Speaking to journalists at County Commissioner’s office in Bungoma, the planning committee said the work on the ground is commendable and meets standards for the National event.
“The works on the field, landing side at Matulo airstrip and the guest house have been done to satisfaction,” said Principal Secretary for Interior and National Coordination Raymond Omolo who chairs the committee.

He has called upon residents of Bungoma to collaborate with contractors so that the remaining works are completed smoothly citing that security has already been enhanced.
“There is some work on infrastructure which is yet to be finalized and more manpower will be required, let all those Kenyans closer to infrastructure give us a humble time to finish the remaining works,” he added.
His sentiments were reiterated by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka who used the opportunity to call upon people of Bungoma to utilize the National event for business opportunities accompanying it.
Lusaka says lighting along the main roads has already been done by the county government.
This year’s celebrations will be held at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma County.
The military officers have already relocated to Nzoia Sugar Company premises for rehearsals.
