A firebrand and popular Western Region Doctors union boss Dr Anthony Akoto has been appointed the Chief of Staff in the ministry of health.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Western Region Chairman was picked after meriting for the big role.
Dr Akoto will be in charge of all employees and running all the errands for the health cabinet Secretary Hon Susan Nakhumicha at the Ministry of Health Headquarters,Afya House-Nairobi.
Dr.Akoto brags of a rich CV that comprises notably high academic qualifications.
He is a graduate of Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery and postgraduates from both Moi and Kenyatta Universities.
He is an Astute defender for doctors rights and welfare where he’s served as Doctors Union Western Branch Chairperson and National Executive Council Member.
He is a gentleman known to go out of his way to use his knowledge and influence to defend his colleagues and patients alike.
His strengths are in building resilient healthcare systems that is responsive and guarantees highest quality of care.
Dr Akoto hails from Namanjalala in Kapomboi ward, Kwanza Constituency, Trans Nzoia County.
He has served in various Healthcare institutions boards of management, School boards and his last assignment was Head of Division -Policy Planning and Health Financing in Governor Lusaka’s government.
According to his LinkenIn page message, Dr.Akoto says he is a Management Team Member.
“I am Dr, Akoto Anthony, A self-driven and directed medical professional with a comprehensive background leading care management, compliance program,” he wrote.
Dr.Akoto is a go getter and steam player who uses his profession to advance other people’s interests.
He did his bachelor of medicine and surgery at Kenyatta University 2007-2013, Msc health management, K.U interest- healthcare management, economics and finance.
