Kalonzo Slams Government Over Plans to Introduce GMO via Cattle Vaccination

By Mwibanda

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly criticized the government’s plans to vaccinate cattle nationwide, claiming that it is part of a “heinous” scheme to introduce genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that could harm both animals and humans. In a press briefing on Friday, November 15, Kalonzo accused President William Ruto’s administration of collaborating with foreign billionaires to use Kenya as a testing ground for potentially dangerous substances.

The former Vice President warned that the planned vaccination could lead to severe health issues for the country’s cattle, including malformations in calves and infertility among the animals. He further claimed that such changes could ultimately affect the human population through consumption of contaminated meat and genetically modified farm produce.

Kalonzo also raised concerns about the hidden agenda behind the vaccination, which he alleged involves injecting cattle with gene-modifying substances designed to reduce methane gas emissions—a move he described as an attempt to address climate change. “Animals release gas as a natural part of digestion, but the government wants to inject our cattle to stop this gas from being emitted,” Kalonzo stated. He expressed his belief that such interventions are being falsely marketed as part of an environmental protection initiative, but are in fact harmful to Kenya’s pastoral communities and the broader population.

The Wiper leader urged Kenyans to oppose the plan, vowing to reject the vaccination rollout if it proceeds. He also called on President Ruto to intervene and protect the country from what he described as “destructive foreign experiments.”

In addition to criticizing the cattle vaccination plan, Kalonzo expressed support for the Catholic bishops, who have recently spoken out against the government’s unfulfilled promises, extrajudicial killings, over-taxation, and what they called a “culture of lies.” Kalonzo praised the bishops for holding the government accountable, stressing the importance of maintaining the values that Kenya holds dear.

Kalonzo’s comments come amid growing concern over the government’s approach to genetic modification and its potential impact on both the environment and public health.
