The 10th Anniversary of the HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) World Peace Summit will take place on September 18, 2024, in Seoul, South Korea. This landmark event will also be celebrated in 122 locations worldwide, under the theme, “Creating a Worldwide Peaceful Community through Regional Collaboration.”
The summit commemorates a decade of global commitment to peace, highlighting the dedication of leaders and citizens to peaceful coexistence and a decade-long period of harmony. It aims to review the achievements of HWPL since its inception and to strategize future plans to promote global unity.
Since its first summit in 2014, HWPL has convened thousands of global leaders from political, religious, women’s, youth, and media sectors across approximately 140 countries. The inaugural summit addressed critical issues such as conflict resolution, religious harmony, and legal frameworks for lasting peace.
This year’s anniversary event will focus on reviewing HWPL’s progress and discussing future plans. The summit will seek to enhance regional networks and establish collaborative strategies to address local peace challenges. Sessions will be held in various countries under the slogan, “Let’s Have Everyone Become a Messenger of Peace,” advocating for individual responsibility in promoting peace.
HWPL plans to gather and showcase peace messages from around the world, reflecting the global desire for unity and peace. Over the past decade, HWPL and its partners have tackled global challenges, including military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cybersecurity threats, through strengthened regional cooperation and collective action.
HWPL is committed to building a robust peace governance framework that connects international organizations, governments, and civil societies.
Reflecting on the previous year’s anniversary, Chairman Lee Man-hee of HWPL stated, “Why should the lives of young people be sacrificed in war? What is politics, and for whom is it? When war breaks out, it is young people who are sacrificed. Peace cannot be achieved through words alone. If peace had won in this world, there would have been no regrettable deaths. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global community where our descendants will live.”
Ends.
