Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has nominated 16 individuals to serve as County Chief Officers and forwarded their names to the County Assembly for vetting and approval.
The nominations, contained in an executive communication dated May 25, 2026, were received by the Office of the County Assembly Clerk on Monday before being formally transmitted to the Speaker’s office on Tuesday morning for tabling before the House.
In a letter addressed to County Assembly Clerk Moses Lupao, Governor Natembeya said the nominations were made pursuant to Section 45 of the County Governments Act, 2012, which empowers governors to appoint county chief officers subject to approval by the county assembly.
“Pursuant to Section 45 of the County Governments Act of 2012, I have nominated the persons named below and hereby submit them for vetting and approval,” the governor stated in the communication.
The nominees have been drawn from various sub-counties across Trans Nzoia, including Saboti, Kwanza, Cherangany, Endebess, and Kiminini, reflecting regional representation within the county administration.
Among the key appointments, Barasa Charles Wasike from Saboti Sub-County has been nominated for the Agriculture and Irrigation docket, while Ben Kwatemba from Cherangany has been proposed to head the Economic Accounting and Procurement department.
Khamila Mark Mulunda has been nominated for the Public Works and Energy portfolio, while Martin Muzungu Bunyasi has been proposed for the Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development department.
In the education sector, Daniel Chakulu Masinde has been nominated as Chief Officer for Education, while Fred Mang’eni has been proposed for Vocational Training.
Other nominees include Nyambura Lucy Ng’ang’a for Gender and Social Development, Hosea Sismat Chemche for Youth, Sports and Talent Development, and Ochengo Catherine Kerubo for Tourism, Culture and Performing Arts.

The County Assembly’s relevant departmental committees are expected to conduct vetting sessions before presenting their reports to the plenary for debate and approval or rejection of the nominees.
