The recent passing of comedian Fred Omondi has stirred up speculation and rumors, prompting his elder brother, Eric Omondi, to step forward and provide clarity. Fred tragically lost his life in a road accident involving a boda boda and a PSV bus in Nairobi, leading to various unfounded theories circulating about the circumstances of his death.
Eric, 40, has vehemently denied claims of foul play, asserting that Fred’s death was a result of the severe impact from the accident. Speaking candidly, Eric explained that both Fred and the boda boda driver, identified as Mutiso, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. The confusion arose when Mutiso’s body went missing after being taken to the hospital, initially leading to speculation and confusion.
“Fred was rushed to the hospital by good Samaritans, and due to his celebrity status, he was quickly identified. Unfortunately, the boda boda driver, Mutiso, was abandoned at the hospital and later registered as an unidentified body,” Eric clarified. “This misunderstanding fueled the rumors, but Mutiso’s fate was equally tragic. His family searched for him for three days before discovering his fate.”
Mutiso was laid to rest in Machakos, two days prior to Fred’s burial in Sega, Siaya County, where the Omondi family home is located.
Eric’s statement aims to put to rest any speculations surrounding Fred’s untimely death, emphasizing that it was a devastating accident that claimed his brother’s life. The family has been grappling with grief and mourning, compounded by the unnecessary rumors circulating in the aftermath of Fred’s passing.
As the family continues to mourn their loss, Eric Omondi hopes that by sharing the truth, they can honor Fred’s memory and move forward in peace.
