Bungoma County education and vocational training executive clearly indicated that he won’t back down on the recent transfers he effected on a section of vocational training college’s instructors.

The CEC said that he has been receiving delegations close to a section of assembly leaders and principals of VTCs to rescind his decision but added that the transfers are meant to rejuvenate the training sector.

“Am not sorry for effecting the changes because it is a normal thing in the government, this is meant to energize the training sector to bring out the skilled labour force,” he said.

He pointed out that he will never succumb to intimidation as he was picked to streamline and grow the department.

“Threats from some leaders won’t make me to revoke the changes I made recently, let those instructors report to their new stations failure to which they will face disciplinary measures,” warned the CEC.

He also warned VTCs principal’s against ganging up against his decision as it shows that they are not team players.

Recently, the TVETA and the Ministry of education internal quality assurance and assessment team carried out an inspection and identified some challenges which informed the recommendations to transfer some instructors.

“Some of the recommendations showed that some instructors faced chronic absenteism, not registered with TVETA, their training institutions lack students and some are not qualified to teach in VTCs having referred or failed in their exams,” said Wamamili.

He called on leaders and principals to support him so that he can better VTCs in Bungoma County.

Eleven instructors were affected by the transfers that were effected early last month.
