In a remarkable display of international collaboration, the Netherlands Ambassador, Mr Maarten Brouwer, graced Trans Nzoia with his presence, paying a courtesy call to Governor, H.E George Natembeya.

This meeting marked the convergence of two worlds, where expertise in agriculture and sustainable development merged with the wisdom and aspirations of local farmers and stakeholders.
Apart from agriculture, the ambassador identified major areas of concentration that the Dutch government is eager to promote, such as primary healthcare and the fight against violent extremism, which would considerably improve the quality of life in Trans Nzoia County.
The ambassador stressed the importance of private partnerships with firms like Philips in outfitting Trans Nzoia County Teaching and Reference Hospital.
The nearly completed facility will aid local patients by relieving congestion at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Governor Natembeya, on his part, expressed his eagerness to learn from the Netherlands’ success in agriculture and explore opportunities for knowledge exchange and capacity building.
“I am optimistic about our partnership with the Netherlands. Together, we will work towards sustainable development, improved healthcare, and enhanced opportunities for our residents,” said the Governor.
The Governor also outlined his administration’s efforts in providing quality education and skills training to the youth.
He highlighted the need for collaboration with the Netherlands in establishing vocational training centers and promoting entrepreneurship among the youths.
