Sirisia MP John Waluke.

SIRISIA, Kenya (July 5, 2025) .
Sirisia MP Major John Waluke launched a blistering personal attack on Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya during a political rally in Bungoma County on Saturday, dismissing the governor as a “mere DO” who once relied on him for handouts and lacked any real access to power.
The tirade came in response to Natembeya’s remarks at Friday’s opposition rally, where he claimed credit for helping Waluke meet the late Internal Security Minister John Michuki when the MP was agitating for the creation of Bungoma West Sub-County.
But Waluke, a close ally of President William Ruto, rejected the claim and accused Natembeya of lying to elevate his public profile.
“He was nothing more than a personal assistant,” Waluke told the cheering crowd. “An ordinary District Officer at that time wasn’t even fit to be a secretary in Michuki’s office. He couldn’t admit anyone there, let alone assist me.”
Waluke went further, alleging that Natembeya had repeatedly asked him for “tokens” during their earlier interactions — which he said he readily gave because of his own financial muscle.
“You all know my pockets are always full,” the MP said. “I used to help him because he had nothing. I went to see the President with elders from Sirisia, and Natembeya was of no help. He wasn’t in any position to assist.”
“Ruto Today, Luhyia Tomorrow”
Waluke used the occasion to urge the Luhyia community to throw their full support behind President Ruto in 2027, claiming that doing so would secure the presidency for Western Kenya in 2032.
“We have 53 MPs from this region, and they’ve given me the mandate to lead the community under the Western Political Caucus,” he said. “This is the vehicle that will lift our people from economic slavery.”
In a sharp rebuke of the opposition coalition, Waluke dismissed the previous day’s rally by Azimio-affiliated leaders as empty political theatre.
“Did that meeting bring you development? Do you have money in your pocket now?” he asked. “We don’t feed on words. We want substance.”
Academic Boast and Insults.
Waluke concluded his speech with a personal jab at Natembeya’s education and intellect, claiming that he holds a doctorate and was far more qualified than the governor.
“He is stupid. Did his mother write for me?” Waluke sneered. “I have a doctorate degree.Iam educated .The people of Sirisia are educated—not foolish like him.”
The remarks sparked a wave of reactions online, with some lauding Waluke’s fiery defense of Ruto while others criticized the MP for resorting to insults and divisive language.
Governor Natembeya, a rising political figure in the Rift and Western blocs, has not yet responded publicly to Waluke’s remarks. His allies, however, have hinted at a possible press conference early next week.
