Senator David Wakoli welcomed the Senate’s allocation of Ksh 12.985 billion to Bungoma County, calling it a major victory while demanding immediate structural and financial accountability from the county executive.
Key Demands for Accountability
Clear Pending Bills: The county must urgently pay contractors, suppliers, and workers.
Investigate Finances: The Senate Committee must probe Bungoma’s unresolved pending bills.
Protect Public Funds: Resource utilization must benefit citizens instead of a few individuals.
Educational and Community PrioritiesHire Tutors: Prioritize recruiting early childhood development (ECD) teachers and vocational tutors.
Upgrade Infrastructure: Improve local learning facilities and restore dormant emergency services.
Empower Youth: Create targeted programs to support the younger demographic.
Support Farmers: Repair and deploy functional agricultural and water equipment.
Tracking the Funds
Wakoli commended the recent payment of Community Health Promoter (CHP) arrears following intense Senate pressure.
However, he maintained that the multi-billion shilling allocation must translate into tangible development.
“The people of Bungoma deserve value for every shilling allocated,” Wakoli said. “We will continue to demand transparency, efficiency, and service delivery until these billions are felt in every home.”
Ends.
