President Ruto signs 7 bills into law.

President Ruto signing the 7 bills into law at state house,Nairobi.

President William Ruto signed seven parliamentary bills aimed at advancing Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and enhancing global competitiveness.

The signed bills include:

1. Kenya Revenue Authority (Amendment) Bill 2024 – This bill facilitates the appointment of deputy commissioners by the Commissioner-General, pending board approval, and allows the Treasury Secretary to waive penalties for inadvertent transfer failures.

2. Kenya Roads (Amendment) Bill 2024 – Focused on streamlining road infrastructure and management.

3. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024 – Adjusts qualifications for the EACC chairperson to ensure strong leadership.

4. Statutory Instruments (Amendment) Bill 2023 – Aims to improve regulatory frameworks.

5. Business Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 – Enhances ease of doing business, bolsters financial stability, and protects depositors.

6. Tax Procedures (Amendment) Bill 2024 and Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 – Amend taxation processes to improve compliance and revenue collection.

The signing ceremony, held at State House Nairobi, was attended by the National Assembly Speaker Dr.Moses Wetang’ula,Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Treasury Secretary John Mbadi, Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor, and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

These reforms are designed to strengthen public finance management, curb corruption, and create a business-friendly environment.

The amendments also align with Kenya’s broader efforts to secure investor confidence, such as the oversubscribed $1.5 billion Eurobond.
