Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka announced a comprehensive forensic audit to eliminate over 1,000 suspected ghost workers within two weeks, aiming to curb payroll fraud and financial mismanagement.
“Action will be taken against all those involved(in the racket),”said Lusaka
The crackdown follows a recent administrative shakeup where the governor dismissed county top officials to reign on graft.
“There are things that have been happening in the county government and i am not going to tolerate them.I have already taken action against some officers for abuse of office,”he said.
The governor is allegedly intending to use the biometric and documentary audit to scrutinize all county employment records, with findings to be made public .
“The wage bill is very high and i cannot affird to be paying people who donot work,”Lusaka added.
