NAIROBI, Kenya
The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has officially removed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his position as the Secretary-General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), ending a months-long legal and internal battle within the opposition party.
The ORPP confirmed this removal in an official letter, citing valid procedures under the Political Parties Act after finding a lack of response from Sifuna.
This move followed the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal’s (PPDT) refusal to issue interim orders blocking the ouster.
The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) cited alleged misconduct for the removal, with Catherine Omanyo stepping in as acting Secretary-General
