Haiti has once again been gripped by horrifying violence, as almost 200 members of the Voodoo community were killed in a massacre reportedly orchestrated by a powerful gang leader.
The brutal killings especially of the elderly people underscore the country’s escalating gang violence and its devastating impact on vulnerable communities.
According to reports, the massacre began after a gang leader blamed members of the Voodoo community for his son’s illness.
In retaliation, he allegedly ordered a targeted attack on Voodoo practitioners, leading to one of the bloodiest episodes of violence Haiti has seen in recent years.

According to the United Nations, gangs now control over 80% of Port-au-Prince, leaving millions at risk.
