Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke on Sunday alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is behind the financing of opposition operations, escalating an already charged political environment.
Speaking at a public event in Bungoma county Waluke claimed that Kenyatta is quietly supporting opposition figures and activities aimed at undermining President William Ruto’s administration.
He did not provide evidence for the allegations but insisted that the former head of state remains politically active behind the scenes.
Waluke framed the claims as part of a broader struggle for political influence, suggesting that elements aligned with the previous administration are working to destabilize the current government.
His remarks come amid rising political tensions and increased public criticism of government policies from opposition leaders.
Kenyatta has not publicly responded to the accusations.
In recent months, he has largely kept a low political profile, though he has occasionally weighed in on national issues and regional peace efforts.
The opposition has also not directly addressed Waluke’s claims.
However, leaders allied to opposition coalitions have consistently maintained that their activities are driven by public interest concerns, including the cost of living and governance issues, rather than external funding.
