Businessman and philanthropist Masinde Nguti has signaled a robust grassroots mobilisation strategy as he sets his sights on the Kimilili parliamentary seat ahead of next year’s general election.
Nguti, who has been undertaking sustained humanitarian interventions across the constituency, said his political approach will be anchored on a structured, people-driven campaign model that prioritises development and citizen participation.
Speaking to this writer, Nguti stated that his political agenda will be firmly rooted in a “development-centred and people-first philosophy” aimed at reshaping service delivery and enhancing accountability at the constituency level.
“I am committed to a campaign that is grounded in the people. The electorate must be at the centre of decision-making, and development priorities must reflect their lived realities,” he said.
He revealed that his campaign machinery is in the formative stages of what he described as an “intensive grassroots mobilisation exercise,” which will involve systematic village-to-village engagements across Kimilili constituency to popularise his manifesto.
Nguti indicated that his ongoing philanthropic work has provided him with critical insights into socio-economic challenges facing residents, including youth unemployment, infrastructural gaps and access to essential services, which he intends to address through policy-driven interventions.
Political analysts observe that early constituency-wide mobilisation is increasingly becoming a key determinant in shaping electoral competitiveness, particularly in regions where voter engagement is deeply rooted in local dynamics.
Nguti, however, maintained that his bid will avoid divisive rhetoric, instead focusing on issue-based politics and consolidation of unity across all wards.
“My focus is to offer transformative leadership anchored on inclusivity, accountability, and sustainable development. Kimilili deserves a leadership that listens and delivers,” he said.
As political activities gradually gain momentum ahead of next year’s polls, Nguti is expected to intensify his engagements, positioning himself as part of a growing wave of aspirants banking on grassroots networks to build electoral support.
