Hon. Steven Masiga, spokesperson for the Bugisu Cultural Institution, has issued a gentle reminder to Bamasaba at home and abroad: elections are for casting ballots, not reenacting ancient warrior sagas.

“Please, leave the pangas, spears, and arrows at home,” Masiga said, in what could be interpreted as a warning or a polite hint that polling stations are not the next battlefield.

Masiga urged locals to embrace civility during and after the elections, suggesting that disputes be settled with voices—not weaponry.

He added that even diaspora Bamasaba should resist any urge to channel ancestral fighting spirit from afar.

It remains unclear whether Masiga also recommends gift-wrapping the sharp objects or just leaving them in the shed.
