SIRONKO, Uganda
President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting development initiatives in Sironko District, emphasizing the importance of local leadership in driving progress.
Speaking at a public gathering, Museveni praised the district’s political and community leaders for their efforts in education, health and infrastructure, highlighting the role of women and youth in local development.
“A strong community requires strong leadership at all levels,” Museveni said. “I encourage all of you to continue working for the welfare of your people and ensure that government programs reach every household.”
The president at the event interacting warmly with local leaders and citizens, underscoring the government’s message of inclusive growth and participatory governance.
Museveni was seen encouraging residents to engage actively in ongoing development programs and applauding community-driven initiatives.
During the event, Aisha Nabulo Mafabi, NRM flag bearer and woman MP aspirant for Sironko District, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and highlighted ongoing projects in health, education and women’s empowerment.
“Our community has seen progress because of the commitment of our leaders and the support from the central government,” she said.
Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo, chairman of NRM in Sironko and Aisha’s father, called on residents to continue embracing development initiatives and supporting effective leadership.
Analysts praised his role in the successful mobilization of the event. Joseph Mauso of Eastern Eye said, “Sulaiman did an impressive job organizing the meeting. The turnout and smooth conduct reflect his strong grassroots network and influence in Sironko.”
The visit coincided with the launch of new community development projects, including upgrades to schools and health centers, and reinforced the government’s pledge to enhance service delivery in the district.
