Orero Boys High School in Homa Bay County is once again attracting national attention as it prepares for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
With a proven track record of excellence and a reputation built on discipline, hard work, and integrity, the school is setting its sights on yet another historic performance.
In the 2024 KCSE, Orero Boys achieved an impressive mean score of 9.42, placing nearly all of its candidates in direct university entry.
This remarkable success positioned the school among Kenya’s top-performing extra-county institutions and reaffirmed its status as an academic powerhouse in the Nyanza region.
Chief Principal Mr. Dickens Bula attributes the school’s continued success to a clear vision, strong teamwork, and a culture of discipline.
“Our mission is to nurture responsible, well-rounded learners who can excel both in academics and in life.
The progress we have made is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, students, and parents,” he said.
Building on this strong foundation, the school has set an ambitious target mean score of 10.42 for the 2025 KCSE class.
To achieve this, Orero Boys has strengthened its academic programmes by introducing targeted remedial lessons, continuous internal assessments and personalized mentorship initiatives.
The school has also enhanced its learning environment with upgraded science laboratories, digital learning facilities, and structured revision schedules to ensure that every student reaches their full potential.
Mr. Bula emphasized that success at Orero Boys is achieved through honesty and effort.
“We believe in integrity as the foundation of true excellence. Our students understand that genuine success comes from discipline, not shortcuts,” he said, reaffirming the school’s zero-tolerance policy toward examination malpractice.
The school’s growth has also been supported by a vibrant community of parents, alumni and education stakeholders who continue to rally behind its mission.
Their contributions ranging from infrastructural development to mentorship — have created a strong ecosystem that fosters continuous improvement.
Orero Boys’ rise has become a beacon of inspiration for schools across Homa Bay and beyond, proving that with visionary leadership, teamwork and consistency, excellence is achievable.
As the 2025 KCSE approaches, confidence is high that the school will once again raise the bar and inspire the next generation of learners.
“Our story is one of resilience and faith,” Mr. Bula concluded. “At Orero Boys, we believe that every milestone we achieve is just the beginning of a greater journey. This year, we are ready to make history.”
