Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga arrived at the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at Kenya Railways Headquarters on June 5, 2024. The two leaders are set to hold a joint press briefing, during which Mudavadi is expected to update the country on Raila’s candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson.
Raila has declared his interest in the AU’s top job, with elections slated for February 2025. As Kenya’s official candidate, Raila has the support of President William Ruto, who has been actively lobbying African heads of state to back Odinga for the position.
