Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka has dismissed four Chief From the County public service over gross misconduct.
In a Press release dates 24th August 2023, Lusaka sacked Four Chief Officers namely; Dr. Chrispinus Nyongesa, Mr.Isaac Aruput, Mr. Abidan Kapchangaand Mr.Maurice Marango.
On 3rd February 2023, Four Chief Officers were interdicted from discharging their duties and responsibilities after being alleged to have committed offences and acts that amounted to gross misconduct.
“Accordingly, and in accordance with section 45(1)(b) as read together with section 31(d) of the County Governments Act,I hereby dismiss the Four Chief Officers from the County Public Service with immediate effect,” said Lusaka.
On 16th February 2023, the Four Chief Officers reached out to the Employment and Labour Relations Court and filed a petition challenging their interdiction.
“The Petition was heard and the court dismissed the same on 23rdof March 2023 paving way for me to appoint a Disciplinary Committee to look in to the accusations.,” Read the release.
The committee commenced its proceedings and invited all the Officers to appear before it at Mabanga
ATC so that they can be accorded a fair hearing as it is stipulated within the law.
The Officers appeared and disrupted the proceedings making it difficult for the committee to discharge its mandate. The committee proceeded and handed in its report with several recommendations on the way forward.
“I have gone through there port and noted that the Four Chief Officers contravened the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity, Article 10 on national values and principles of governance and article 232 on values and principles of Public Service,” said Lusaka.
