Brief Profile About The Chairperson Of The Taskforce For Or The Review Of Bungoma County Health Services Act 2019

Prof. Barasa Kundu Nyukuri is a renowned Governance Expert with over 25 years of experience.

He is also a Human Rights Defender and Public Litigant on several matters pertaining public interest.

Prof. Barasa Kundu Nyukuri chaired the Human Resource Audit and Capacity Assessment Taskforce December 2018 to February 2019.

He was appointed by for County Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati Regime. The Report is available for your perusal and comments.

The promotion, restructuring and other changes that took place in the County Department/ Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Fisheries, Irrigation and Cooperatives (MOALFIC) were a result of the Report generated under the leadership of Prof. Barasa Kundu Nyukuri.

He also chaired a Taskforce on the Bungoma Peace, Cohesion and Integration Policy in 2020. He was appointed by Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati.

The Draft Policy was submitted to the County Assembly of Bungoma for deliberation and enactment.

Barasa Kundu Nyukuri was a member of the Taskforce that drafted the Bungoma County Health Services Act 2019 that under the Department of Health and Sanitation. He was also appointed by Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati in consultation with the County Assembly of Bungoma.

He is a renowned policy and legal drafting expert. He participated in the research and drafting of the Constitution of Kenya,2010 under the Committee of Experts( 2009/2010).

Barasa Kundu Nyukuri was one of the drafters of Political Parties Act, 2011 and its Amendment 2022, The Elections Act 2011 and its Amendment 2016,

The IEBC Act 2011 and its Amendment 2016, The Campaign Financing Act, 2012, The County Governments Act 2012, among other laws under the stewardship of Justice Kathurima Imnoti as the then Chairman of the Kenya Law Reforms Commission in collaboration with the Legal Department of the National Assembly.

He has been involved in national, continental and international governance and policy advisory work with USAID, UN Women , UNDP, CIDA, Norwegian Embassy, SIDA, DANIDA, among others.
