GOVERNOR’S PRESS UNIT
Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has launched the construction of the governor and deputy governor’s official residence.

Speaking at Mabanga ATC in Luhya/Bwake ward where the residence is going to be constructed, Lusaka confirmed that the construction of the house unit will take two years to complete.

“The contractor is supposed to take two years to complete this project but we hope he will take less than the allocated time to have the governor and the deputy governor occupy them,” he said.

Lusaka expressed his displeasure with people who have been blocking the project, adding that it has taken years for the project to kick off because of the many endless court cases.
“I was supposed to construct this official residence in Musikoma in 2013-14 when i was the first governor but the delay has seen us going to construct it in this historic land,” he said.

Funds were allocated to the department of Housing that will see the county develop an official residence for the Governor and the Deputy Governor.

The deputy governor’s official residence is being constructed in Webuye town at the Webuye County Referral Hospital land.
This followed the advisory from both CRA and SRC while Lusaka made up his mind to end this embarrassing state of event.

CRS had allocated monies between Sh100 million to Sh250 million for the construction of the governor’s residencies across the country.

He lauded MCA’s whom he termed as being visionary enough and appropriated the budget to actualize the dream.
He called on the contractor to employ locals to work on the project so that they can benefit a big deal.

“No need of employing people from outside the region, this is the only way we will empower locals economically and change their lives,” said Lusaka.

The event was attended by the deputy governor Janepher Mbatiany, Lands, Housing, Urban Planning and Municipalities CEC Douglas Sasita, health CS Dr.Andrew Wamalwa and his trade counterpart Caroline Makali among others.
