Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama has been elected the 52nd president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), securing a decisive victory in the professional body’s biennial elections.
Kanjama garnered 3,728 votes in the Feb. 19, 2026, poll, defeating his closest challenger, Peter Wanyama, who received 2,616 votes.
Mwaura Kabata, the outgoing vice president, finished third with 2,086 votes.
The election, conducted nationwide among advocates, followed a competitive campaign period marked by debates over the rule of law, professional standards and the welfare of members.
Kanjama succeeds Faith Odhiambo and will serve a two-year term at the helm of the influential body that represents lawyers in Kenya and plays a central role in promoting constitutionalism and defending human rights.
