Nairobi,Kenya.
President William Ruto has made sweeping changes to his Cabinet, nominating Ababu Namwamba as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Dorothy Angote as High Commissioner to Zimbabwe.
These appointments are part of a reshuffle aimed at consolidating his administration by balancing regional representation and incorporating key allies.
Ruto had in a recent reshuffle nominated former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as Cabinet Secretary for Co operatives and MSMEs and Dr. Deborah Mulongo as CS in the Ministry of Health both from western Kenya.
The reshuffle also saw allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed to key Cabinet positions.
Mutahi Kagwe has been nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Lee Kinyanjui for Investments, Trade, and Industry, and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy.
Kipchumba Murkomen has replaced Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the CS for Interior and National administration.
The nominees will now face parliamentary vetting before their formal appointments.
Meanwhile, current Trade CS Salim Mvurya has been reassigned to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, replacing Kipchumba Murkomen.
Former Agriculture CS Dr. Andrew Karanja and former ICT CS Dr. Margaret Nyambura, who were dropped from their roles, have been nominated as ambassadors.
Dr. Karanja has been nominated as Ambassador to Japan, while Dr. Nyambura nominated as Ambassador to South Korea.
These changes reflect President Ruto’s strategic approach to governance, incorporating political allies and regional leaders while maintaining continuity through diplomatic appointments.
Ends.
