Vihiga Friends Boys Senior School is rapidly emerging as a cradle of excellence, with its students making headlines on both the sporting arena and the global innovation stage. In a remarkable display of talent, discipline and determination, the school has produced learners who will represent Kenya in South Africa, India and at national sporting trials, cementing its place among the country’s top-performing institutions.
The latest wave of success has seen three students shortlisted for the Kenya Under-16 National Basketball Trials scheduled for later this July in Nairobi County. Their selection follows outstanding performances and offers them an opportunity to earn places in the national basketball team.
Adding to the school’s celebrations, Grade 10H student Joshua Mogere has departed for Durban, South Africa, where he will proudly wear the Kenyan colours at the Under-16 Rugby Tournament. His international call-up is a testament to his exceptional talent, hard work and unwavering commitment to the game.
Senior Principal Albert Masiolo described Joshua’s selection as a proud moment not only for the school but also for the wider community.
“This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to his hard work, discipline and dedication to the sport. As a school community, we celebrate this milestone and wish him safe travels, outstanding performances and a memorable experience on the international stage,” said Masiolo.
He challenged the young rugby star to seize the opportunity and continue making the school and the country proud.
The school’s success story extends beyond the playing field into the world of science and technology.
Enrique Iglatius, Jeremy Gerald and John Levy delivered another historic milestone after emerging second overall in Kenya during the 2026 World Robot Olympiad Senior Category competition held at Nova Pioneer, Tatu City, finishing behind only Alliance High School.

The outstanding trio has now earned the honour of representing Kenya at the World Robot Olympiad in India this September, where they will compete against some of the world’s brightest young minds in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
The achievements underscore Vihiga Friends Boys Senior School’s unwavering commitment to nurturing all-round learners by investing in academics, sports, innovation and technology. The institution continues to produce students who are not only excelling in the classroom but are also proving their abilities on national and international platforms.
As Joshua Mogere prepares to fly the Kenyan flag in South Africa, the basketball trio readies for national selection in Nairobi, and the robotics team gears up for the global contest in India, Vihiga Friends Boys Senior School is writing an inspiring chapter of excellence—one that is positioning the institution as a national powerhouse in sports, science and innovation.
