For years, Milo Boys Senior School in Bungoma County carried the heavy weight of lost hope.

Once a school known for promise, it had gradually slipped into decline, leaving students, teachers, and the community doubting its potential.

However the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results have changed that narrative, powerfully and emotionally.

Milo Boys has launched an ambitious campaign to reclaim its glory and aim for national school status, following a remarkable improvement in performance.

The results have not only raised academic standards but restored pride, belief, and purpose to everyone connected to the school.

At the heart of this turnaround is Principal Stanley Wafula, who took the reins less than two years ago when the school was “on its knees,” struggling both academically and administratively.

“When I arrived, I met a wounded school,” Wafula said. “Students had lost confidence, teachers were discouraged, and the community had almost given up. Our first mission was to heal the spirit of Milo Boys before fixing academics.”

That healing is now reflected in the results. In 2025 KCSE, Milo Boys posted a mean score of 6.5806 (C+), with two B+ grades, six B plains, 24 B- grades, and 20 C+ grades, and 52 out of 93 candidates qualifying for direct university admission,a milestone the school had not achieved in decades.

For the learners, this achievement was deeply personal.

Principal Wafula attributes the success to teamwork, strict discipline, and unwavering support from the Board of Management.

Teachers embraced a culture of accountability, students committed to hard work, and the Board stood firmly behind every initiative.

“Every improvement came through unity,” he said. “These results belong to all of us,teachers, students, and the community.”

Under his leadership, Milo Boys strengthened academic planning, intensified remedial teaching, reinforced guidance and counselling, and cultivated a results-driven culture rooted in mentorship and discipline.

Buoyed by the improved KCSE performance, the school now has its sights set on national status,a dream once thought impossible.

Plans are underway to enhance infrastructure, expand academic and co-curricular programmes, and attract top-performing learners from across the country.

Board members say the revival of Milo Boys is proof that no institution is beyond redemption.

“This is more than a performance story,” said a board member. “It is a story of hope, sacrifice, and leadership.”

As the school community celebrates the 2025 KCSE results, one truth is clear: Milo Boys is no longer defined by its struggles.

It is defined by resilience, belief and a national dream reborn.
