Nairobi — Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has made headlines by accusing Kenyan lawmaker Babu Owino of conspiring with opposition groups in Uganda to undermine his government. This statement came during the official launch event for Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship at State House Nairobi on Tuesday, August 27.
In his address, Museveni claimed that Babu Owino, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, is involved in efforts to challenge the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s rule in Uganda. The President suggested that Babu’s activities are part of a broader scheme by anti-NRM factions.
“I receive intelligence reports regularly, and I have observed that Babu Owino is engaged with groups opposing the NRM,” Museveni stated. “I have not previously accused Babu of this, but today I am making this allegation public.”
The remarks have sparked significant discussion on Kenyan social media, with many reacting to Museveni’s direct confrontation of the Kenyan MP.
