UDA MCAs Urge Gen Z to Moderate Demands and End Violent Protests

A faction of UDA Members of County Assembly (MCAs) has called upon Generation Z to moderate their demands on President William Ruto, urging the youth to adopt more reasonable expectations and approaches.

In recent months, President Ruto has faced substantial pressure from the younger generation, who have voiced their dissatisfaction through a series of protests. The UDA MCAs have now stepped forward to defend the president, highlighting the challenges he faces and advocating for a more balanced dialogue.

Calls for an End to Violence

The MCAs have expressed concerns over the increasing violence associated with these protests. They assert that while peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right, the current protests have been infiltrated by individuals with malicious intent. “What we are seeing is no longer peaceful protests. These demonstrations have been hijacked by goons who are causing lawlessness, leading to loss of life and property,” stated one MCA.

Accusations of Hidden Agendas

Additionally, the MCAs have accused certain elements within the political and civil society sectors of exploiting the protests for their own gain. “It is now clear that some elements, especially in politics and the civil society sector, have joined the demonstrations to push a very nefarious and crooked agenda,” they claimed.

A Call for Constructive Engagement

The MCAs are urging Gen Z to channel their energy towards constructive engagement and dialogue with the government. They believe that collaboration and understanding are essential for addressing the nation’s challenges and ensuring that the youth’s voices are heard without resorting to violence.

Looking Ahead

As the situation evolves, it remains crucial for all stakeholders to seek peaceful and productive solutions. The call from the UDA MCAs underscores the need for a balanced approach that respects democratic rights while maintaining law and order.

Governor Sakaja’s recent efforts to improve urban safety and infrastructure, such as the restoration of footbridges along Landhies and Jogoo Road, are steps in the right direction. These initiatives highlight the importance of collaboration and proactive measures in addressing the needs and concerns of Nairobi’s residents.
