Before her role in the Trade Ministry, Miano was the Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community, the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development. Miano is a trailblazer in her own right, having made history as the first female Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC. She held this pioneering role for five years before transitioning to her cabinet appointments.
