Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has implored his colleague legislators for turning up in large numbers in support of his motion to impeach Agriculture CS

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has implored his colleague legislators for turning up in large numbers in support of his motion to impeach Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi for distributing fake fertilizer to Kenyans and farmers.

He stated that as an oversight house, they had restored the dignity of the Kenyan Parliament in representing affairs of the people.

Wamboka had collected 149 MPS who appended their signatures in support of the impeachment of the CS Linturi, 36 MPS opposed it and 3 other MPS abstained.

Bumula legislator accused CS Linturi of incompetence following the manner he has handled the fake fertilizer and Sugar Saga where unfit imported Sugar and fertilizer was distributed to Consumers.

The allegations against CS Linturi center around accusations of breaching Article 153 (2) of the Constitution by failing to be individually and collectively accountable to the President.

Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah expressed fears that the impeachment motion against the CS could be a decoy to hide the real individual culpable in the scandal and an attempt to impede the ongoing investigation by the House.

However, Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi implored the House to pass the Motion and form the Committee to investigate the issues that had been raised.

Further Parliament approved the formation of a select Committee to Investigate Impeachment Charges against CS Linturi.

The 11 member select Committee should comprise of six members from the majority side-Kenya Kwanza ,four from the minority side and one from the Jubilee Party.

According to the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, the Committee should probe the matter within 10 days.

“It should be noted as stated above that the Constitution requires the select Committee to conduct investigation and report within 10 days .In the regard, the parties should provide me with the names of the nominees not later than today”, said Wetang’ula.
