Preparations for Madaraka Day ceremony are about to be concluded.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omolo said that the preparations are at 90% citing that the biggest part of the construction work has been finalized.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the construction of roads, terraces and other construction works at Masinde Muliro Stadium where the ceremony will be held, Omolo said the work which has been done by the contractors is commendable.
Omolo said that the remaining infrastructural developments will be completed in due course.
“The progress is good especially on the venue where the ceremony will be held, the guest house and Matulo airstrip.We will assess the progress on Wednesday,” he said.
He affirmed that the National Youth Service manpower has been deployed to beef up the workforce at the stadium to avoid delays in completing construction of necessary infrastructure and the road network around the stadium before June 1 2024.
“We have deployed NYS workforce on the stadium site so that they support the other workers to complete the work in time,” he said.
Omolo used the opportunity to call upon Kenyans to exercise caution as learners resume school so that more fatalities do not occur.
More than 1,957 schools have been affected by floods that have killed people,destroyed infrastructure in homes and schools in most parts of the country.
Omolo said that security at Masinde Muliro has been enhanced adding that engineers at the stadium are ensuring that the stadium is build to proper standards so that people are secure while celebrating Madaraka day.
