By Reuben Olita

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Teso Branch has wished public and private primary schools in the branch success ahead of the forthcoming Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) and Kenya Primary Schools Exam Assessment (KAPSEA) for Grade 6.

Mr Geoffrey Ekasiba, holding a success card.

In the success cards sent to all 186 public and private schools, KNUT Branch Executive Secretary Geoffrey Ekasiba told candidates to shine bright like a star and be strong and courageous.

“As you sit down for your exams, remember that success is always the result of adequate preparations, hardworking and the favour of God.

My prayer for you is that you will do your best and that you will achieve nothing less than the very best,” he said, urging them not to be discouraged for the Lord will be them.

Mr Ekasiba thanked the teachers for the good work, noting that the task to deliver quality results now rests on the candidates since the teachers have played their role.

“Parents should give their children who are due to sit for the national exams adequate time to revise their work so as to realize their cherished dreams,” he said.

The Executive Secretary added:” Parents should also reduce family squabbles and drinking habits to give their children time and conducive environment to revise their work.”

Mr Ekasiba said the branch has not witnessed cases of cheating in KCPE exams in recent years, noting that the team from the Kenya National Examination Council that toured the region recently admitted no cases of exam cheating in Teso region.

The best score recorded in 2022 KCPE was 431 marks out of possible 500 with two candidates Otieno Lewis Omondi of St Peter’s Mumias and Fwaro Makokha of Christ the King Bungoma hitting the top mark.

The rehearsal date for KCPE and KPSEA is set on Friday, October 27, 2023. The exams for both levels will begin on Monday, October 30, and end on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. On the first day, candidates will sit for Mathematics and English papers.1.

A total of 1.4 million candidates are set to sit for this year’s KCPE compared to 1.2m in 2022, making it the highest ever.
