WEBUYE, Kenya
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Friday strongly defended the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), labeling it a vital resource for driving educational reforms and transforming local communities nationwide.
Speaking at Mikuva Secondary School in Webuye East, Wetang’ula emphasized the critical role the fund plays in paying school fees for needy students and financing institutional expansions.
The Speaker spoke during an official ceremony to hand over a new school bus purchased using NG-CDF allocations.
He challenged institutional heads and area oversight committees to maintain rigorous transparency.
“Leaders and school boards must ensure prudent use of public funds for the benefit of our children and communities,” Wetang’ula said.
To boost the school’s capacity, Wetang’ula contributed Ksh1 million in cash to fund the purchase of land for school expansion.
He also pledged 30 new computers to support the school’s digital literacy and information technology initiatives.
Turning to regional and national politics, the Speaker rallied residents behind the development agenda of President William Ruto, urging voters to support his administration.
Wetang’ula also used the platform to outline his long-term political roadmap, reiterating his focus on the 2032 General Election.
The high-profile event drew several key local leaders, including Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, Bungoma County Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga, and area Webuye East Member of Parliament Martin Pepela, who all voiced support for local educational development.
