BUNGOMA, Kenya (IP)
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has launched a sharp critique of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, accusing him of failing to advance the interests of Western Kenya and calling for a generational political shift.
Speaking at Kisawayi Primary School in Siboti Ward, Wamboka said Wetang’ula has not effectively represented Bungoma residents despite holding one of the country’s most influential offices.
He also dismissed Wetang’ula’s long-standing presidential ambitions, alleging repeated postponements and urging the Luhya community to look beyond such promises.
“A new leader has emerged, and it is our responsibility to support and nurture him,” Wamboka said, pointing to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as part of a new crop of leaders.
Wamboka argued that the region’s long-held dream of producing a president depends on backing younger leadership with fresh momentum.
The MP further criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration under President William Ruto, accusing it of skewed development that favors parts of Central and Rift Valley while sidelining Western Kenya.
He cited stalled projects such as the Misikhu–Brigadier road despite the region’s support in the 2022 elections, insisting development must be distributed equitably.
Wamboka also highlighted economic strain among ordinary citizens, linking it to broader policy failures affecting livelihoods across sectors.
Meanwhile, through the NG-CDF, he supported 17 women’s groups in Malambisia with tents, chairs and KSh 850,000 in seed capital to boost grassroots enterprises.
