National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetang’ula on Wednesday called on Kenyans to unite in building a stronger and more inclusive nation, while condemning recent acts of violence that have rocked the country.

Speaking in Taveta during a high-level grassroots engagement, Wetang’ula said national unity and economic empowerment — especially for women — are essential to Kenya’s peace and progress.

“As leaders and citizens, let us rally together, in unity and purpose, to build a stronger, more inclusive Kenya,” he said.

The Speaker had joined Mwatate MP Peter Mbogho at a forum focused on uplifting women entrepreneurs in Taita Taveta County. The event brought together Members of Parliament, local leaders, and women’s groups from across the region.

“This afternoon, I honored the invite of the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Mbogho, in advancing a powerful initiative aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in the region,” Wetang’ula said.

“These are the efforts that transform families, uplift communities, and build the economy from the bottom up.”

He was accompanied by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki and several lawmakers, where they jointly issued a strong condemnation of recent unrest linked to anti-government protests.

“Together with Prof. Kithure Kindiki, fellow Members of Parliament, and grassroots leaders, we firmly condemned the recent acts of violence orchestrated by individuals with no vision for this country,” he said.

“Kenya is a great nation, and we must all protect it for the sake of peace, unity, and shared prosperity.”

Wetang’ula praised President William Ruto’s administration for key achievements in sectors critical to daily life.

“I applaud President @WilliamsRuto for the strides made in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and other key sectors that are transforming lives,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to reject divisive politics and instead embrace dialogue, dignity, and development.

The event marked an important push for inclusive policy action targeting women, youth, and marginalized communities in the coastal region.

Ends.
