Sori Senior School in Migori County is steadily emerging as a centre of academic excellence following an impressive performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, where the institution recorded a mean score of 8.3214.
The performance marks a significant milestone for the school and reflects the ongoing transformation being driven by the institution’s leadership under Principal Jacktone Ogolla, whose commitment to raising academic standards continues to shape the school’s academic trajectory.
With a total of 227 candidates sitting the national examinations, the results demonstrate the school’s growing reputation for nurturing disciplined, focused and academically competitive learners.
According to the school’s official performance summary, four students attained grade A, while 16 candidates scored A-, highlighting the institution’s ability to produce top-performing learners capable of competing at the highest academic level.
An additional 21 students secured B+, while 55 candidates achieved B, indicating a strong academic performance across the candidate class.
The largest group of students recorded B- grades with 59 candidates, further reinforcing the school’s strong academic foundation and consistent performance.
The results also show that 45 candidates attained C+, the minimum university entry grade in Kenya, while 18 students scored C and three recorded C-.
Notably, the institution registered no candidates in the D+, D, D-, E or X categories, a performance trend that education stakeholders say reflects effective academic support systems and a strong culture of mentorship within the school.
Education observers say such results are a clear indication of an institution that has put in place structured academic programmes designed to ensure that every learner is supported to reach their potential.
At the centre of this progress is the leadership of Principal Jacktone Ogolla, whose vision for academic excellence has seen the school strengthen its teaching and learning systems.
Under his leadership, the school has implemented a number of academic improvement strategies, including structured revision programmes, enhanced departmental accountability, student mentorship initiatives and regular monitoring of learner performance.
These interventions have played a critical role in cultivating a learning environment where discipline, commitment and hard work remain the pillars of success.
Teachers at the institution say the administration has also emphasized teamwork among staff, ensuring that educators collaborate effectively in guiding students toward academic achievement.
Beyond academic instruction, the school has also focused on instilling positive values among learners, encouraging them to approach education with determination, responsibility and a strong sense of purpose.
Parents and education stakeholders have welcomed the performance, describing it as a clear demonstration that Sori Senior School is steadily rising within the competitive academic landscape.
They note that maintaining a strong cluster of grades between B+ and C+ while eliminating lower performance brackets is a strong indicator of effective leadership and well-coordinated academic programmes.
The success has also inspired younger students within the institution, many of whom now view the 2025 KCSE candidates as role models and a source of motivation in their own academic journey.
Despite the commendable performance, the school leadership remains focused on achieving even greater milestones.
Principal Jacktone Ogolla says the institution is determined to build on the momentum created by the latest KCSE results.
As part of its long-term academic vision, the school has now set a bold target of attaining a mean score of 9.0 in the upcoming KCSE examinations.
Achieving this milestone would represent a major breakthrough for the institution and further solidify its position as one of the leading academic institutions in the region.
To realize this goal, the school plans to intensify academic mentorship programmes, strengthen revision strategies and continue investing in initiatives that promote academic excellence.
Teachers have also reaffirmed their commitment to guiding students with dedication and professionalism as the institution pursues its ambitious academic agenda.
Education leaders say the progress witnessed at Sori Senior School illustrates the impact of visionary leadership and collaborative effort in transforming educational institutions.
With a clear vision, dedicated teachers and motivated learners, the school is steadily positioning itself as a model of academic growth and excellence.
As the institution looks to the future, the message from Sori Senior School remains clear — through strong leadership, teamwork and a shared commitment to excellence, the pursuit of higher academic achievement continues to define the school’s journey.
