Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has alleged that he was abducted by unidentified armed men while travelling along the Isiolo–Nanyuki highway near the Kisima area on Friday.
In a series of urgent posts on social media, the outspoken legislator claimed the assailants ambushed his convoy, fired at his vehicle, and overpowered his security detail before forcefully taking him to an undisclosed location.
“I have just been attacked by unknown individuals claiming to be DCI officers,” Salasya wrote.
“They disarmed my security team, shot at my vehicle, and pursued me. One of my guards managed to help me flee into nearby bushes for safety.”
According to the MP, multiple vehicles intercepted his convoy and shot at the tires of his four-wheel drive, disabling the car before dragging him away. He described the incident as a “well-coordinated operation” and questioned the motives behind it.
“Who sent them? Why now? Kenya must stand for truth and justice,” he added.
“I am currently being taken to an unknown location, and I urge all relevant authorities and the public to take note of what is happening.”
Police Deny Involvement
Local police confirmed they are investigating the incident but denied any official involvement in the operation. The motive behind the alleged abduction remains unclear.
Salasya was reportedly returning from a series of political engagements in Meru and Isiolo, and was en route to Nanyuki for planned rallies when the incident occurred.
In another statement, the MP gave more alarming details:
“They emerged with at least 15 AK-47 rifles and confronted me with a chilling message—one I cannot disclose at this time for security reasons.”
He also emphasized that he has refrained from attacking the government in his recent public appearances, expressing concern that he may be targeted for unknown reasons.
“I urge all relevant authorities and the public to take note of what is happening,” he reiterated.
Ongoing Concern
The incident has raised alarm across the political spectrum, with Kenyans calling for transparency and a swift investigation. If confirmed, the abduction would mark a troubling escalation in politically linked threats and insecurity.
The public awaits official updates as the situation continues to unfold.
