Gachagua’s DCP Party to Suspend Members Over Falsehoods

NAIROBI — Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) is preparing to suspend several members over what party officials have termed as “persistent peddling of falsehoods and internal sabotage.”
The party’s Secretary-General announced on Thursday that disciplinary action was underway targeting individuals who have been misrepresenting DCP’s positions and engaging in conduct deemed harmful to the party’s image and stability.
“We are drawing a firm line,” said the Secretary-General. “There is no room for misinformation or deliberate efforts to undermine the leadership from within. The DCP stands for discipline, truth, and service to the people.”
Though the statement stopped short of naming the members involved, sources within the party confirmed that those targeted include vocal grassroots organizers and a handful of branch officials accused of fanning confusion during recent political engagements.
The crackdown comes amid rising internal tensions as Gachagua’s camp seeks to reassert control and discipline within the young but fast-growing political outfit, launched in the wake of splits within the ruling coalition.
Insiders close to Gachagua suggest the move is part of a broader strategy to position DCP as a clean, principled alternative ahead of the 2027 general election—especially in the Mount Kenya region where political loyalties remain fluid.
