BUNGOMA .
Sirisia MP John Waluke has sharply criticized Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, accusing his administration of failing to deliver on key development promises during his second term.
Speaking during an interview on Sulwe FM, Waluke lamented the lack of progress despite the billions of shillings allocated to the county in the past two years.
The outspoken legislator backed Senator David Wakoli’s calls for greater accountability from the county government, warning that residents are growing impatient with unfulfilled promises.
Waluke pointed to several incomplete projects, including the Chwele slaughterhouse and the Masinde Muliro stadium stadium, which he said remain stagnant despite significant funding from the national government allocations.
“Where is the development? Why is the Chwele slaughterhouse still a white elephant? Why is the stadium project stuck in limbo? The money was allocated long ago—most of it from the national government. Bungoma residents deserve answers,” Waluke said.
Waluke also took aim at Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), accusing them of failing to execute their oversight role.
“Instead of holding the executive accountable, these MCAs are busy enriching themselves. They’ve turned oversight into a joke,” he said, describing the assembly as compromised and unwilling to challenge Lusaka’s administration on mismanagement.
The MP urged Bungoma residents to align themselves with President William Ruto’s development agenda, describing the president as a leader with a clear vision for the region.
He also called for respect toward National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, hinting at the formation of a united Western Kenya political front.
Waluke revealed that Western leaders are scheduled to meet in January to strategize on securing 30% of appointments and resources promised under the Kenya Kwanza government.
The MP’s remarks have sparked fresh debate on leadership and governance in Bungoma, with pressure mounting on Governor Lusaka and MCAs to respond to the allegations.
