The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) has issued a seven-day strike notice, warning of an impending work stoppage set to commence on August 26, 2024. The union is urging the government to address several key demands before the strike takes effect.
Kuppet Secretary General Akello Misori highlighted the primary concern of the teachers: assurances regarding job security and promotion guarantees. Misori emphasized that teachers are seeking concrete commitments from the government to secure their professional advancement and overall employment stability.
As the strike date approaches, the government faces mounting pressure to respond to Kuppetβs demands and prevent a disruption in the education sector. The union’s actions underscore the growing tension between educators and the administration, as teachers advocate for better working conditions and career progression.
