Bungoma County and Sports Kenya have signed a memorandum of understanding to complete the Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi according to CAF standards.

Sports Kenya will provide technical advice, expertise, and support for the construction.
They will also construct a public terrace, public washrooms, and install audio-visual screens, a public address system, and seats.
Bungoma County will construct an athletic track, complete the VIP lounge, and build accessible pathways for people with disabilities.
They will also build sufficient parking areas and changing rooms.

Governor Lusaka said the stadium will be one of the best in Kenya and thanked President Ruto for giving Bungoma County a chance to host Madaraka Day.
Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba said the stadium will be completed in time for Madaraka Day and will be a great help to the people of Bungoma economically.
He added that Kenya plans to host the CHAN Games 2024 in Masinde Muliro Stadium and Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County
