A major political realignment is taking shape in Saboti Constituency following the departure of area MP Caleb Amisi from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the party that sponsored his election to Parliament for two consecutive terms.
The legislator has since shifted his political focus to the People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM), a newly formed political outfit that he is expected to use in defending his parliamentary seat during the forthcoming General Election. The move became more evident after Amisi participated in the party’s inaugural National Governing Council meeting held in Nairobi.
Back in Trans Nzoia County, Amisi’s exit has triggered significant political activity within ODM. The party’s county branch offices were recently reported closed under unclear circumstances, with some members alleging that the development involved individuals allied to the MP. There has also been speculation that the offices could eventually be taken over by PRM, although this remains unconfirmed.

Despite the unfolding political changes, lawyer and ODM parliamentary aspirant Kathleen Jemimmah Chepkemboi Umutokoh has dismissed claims that Amisi’s departure has left the party without leadership in Saboti.
Chepkemboi says she is determined to reinvigorate ODM by strengthening grassroots structures, mobilising supporters and promoting the party’s ideals and policies ahead of the next General Election. She maintains that ODM remains firmly rooted in Saboti and across Trans Nzoia County despite the high-profile exit of its two-term MP.
The aspiring legislator has pledged to offer a new style of representation centred on bridging the gap between residents and both the national and county governments. She expressed confidence that ODM will retain the Saboti parliamentary seat while also making gains in other elective positions across Trans Nzoia County through effective organisation, strategic mobilisation and close collaboration with the party’s national and county leadership.
Meanwhile, during PRM’s National Governing Council meeting in Nairobi, Amisi declared his commitment to strengthening the new political movement, defending his parliamentary seat and forging political alliances aimed at unseating President William Ruto in the next General Election.
With Amisi charting a new political course through PRM and Chepkemboi leading efforts to rebuild and reposition ODM in Saboti, the constituency is emerging as one of Trans Nzoia County’s key political battlegrounds ahead of the 2027 General Election.
