Youth must act as peace ambassadors and refuse to be used by politicians to sponsor violence as the campaign season gains momentum, National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetang’ula said today.
Speaking at a church fundraiser at Navakholo Stadium in Kakamega County, Wetang’ula urged citizens to support the current broad-based government, stating that political unity is essential to spurring national development.
He noted that supporting religious institutions is a direct investment in community welfare, citing their role in providing spiritual guidance, education, and healthcare.
Wetang’ula also highlighted several development projects initiated by President William Ruto’s administration in Western Kenya, framing them as key justifications for Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
The event, held at the invitation of Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, was also attended by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and presidential aide Farouk Kibet.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Barasa emphasized the importance of unified leadership to protect local interests.
“Politics should not be personal; we must remain united as leaders to champion development for our people, regardless of our political affiliations,” Barasa said.
Presidential aide Farouk Kibet reiterated the national government’s long-term commitment to the Western region.
“The Mulembe nation stands to gain immensely from supporting this administration. We are focused on transforming lives through practical empowerment programs and our support for President Ruto ensures continuity and stability,” Kibet stated.
