Lwandanyi Ward MCA aspirant for 2027, Bishop Daniel Makecho, on Sunday intensified his grassroots engagement campaign after joining faithfuls in several churches across the ward, where he worshipped, fellowshipped and donated in support of church development projects.

The aspiring MCA attended services at St. Joseph Tulienge Catholic Church, The Salvation Army Lwakhakha Corps, and St. Paul Catholic Church Lwandanyi.

He was accompanied by Bungoma senatorial aspirant Dr. Isaac Wamalwa during the church visits that attracted hundreds of worshippers and residents.

Speaking during the gatherings, Bishop Makecho criticized what he termed as poor leadership and corruption in Lwandanyi Ward, saying the vice has greatly hindered residents from accessing quality services.

According to Makecho, many development projects in the area have stalled despite the availability of public funds.

He accused the current MCA, Tony Barasa, of failing to fulfill promises made to residents during previous campaigns.

“People are still suffering because of poor leadership and misuse of resources. Women in our villages are still struggling to access clean and safe water despite leaders promising better services,” Makecho said.

He further lamented the state of vocational training centers within the ward, arguing that most institutions lack proper equipment and infrastructure necessary to empower young people with practical skills.

“Our youth deserve better learning facilities. Vocational training centers should be equipped to help young people become self-reliant instead of remaining unemployed,” he added.

The MCA hopeful urged residents to support his 2027 political bid, promising to prioritize transparency, service delivery, clean water projects, youth empowerment and development of local institutions if elected into office.

Dr. Isaac Wamalwa,a Senatorial aspirant for 2027, who accompanied him during the church tour, also encouraged residents to support leaders who are focused on development and accountability.

Residents who attended the church services welcomed the leaders warmly and expressed optimism over Makecho’s leadership agenda.

Some pledged their full support for his 2027 bid, saying the ward needs fresh leadership that will address long-standing challenges affecting the community.

The church visits form part of the growing political activities in Bungoma County as aspirants continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
