Didmus Barasa Draws Massive Crowd During Nalondo Market Tour in Kabuchai

By Alex Wekesa

Didmus Barasa on Friday intensified his 2027 gubernatorial campaigns after conducting a high-profile engagement tour at Nalondo Market in Kabuchai Constituency where he attracted one of the largest political crowds .

The outspoken Kimilili Member of Parliament used the gathering to market his development record and outline his vision for Bungoma County ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Hundreds of residents, traders, youth, and local leaders turned up to welcome the legislator as chants and songs filled the busy market center during the tour.

Speaking to residents, Barasa defended his leadership record in Kimilili Constituency, saying his achievements within a short period in office demonstrate his ability to transform Bungoma County if elected governor.

“I have not been in office for more than eight years, but the work I have done in Kimilili speaks for itself,” Barasa told the crowd.

The MP highlighted several projects he says have transformed schools within Kimilili Constituency, particularly in the education sector.

According to Barasa, many learning institutions previously operated in old and dilapidated classrooms before his administration intervened.

“We demolished old tuition blocks and constructed new modern classrooms to provide a better learning environment for our children,” he said.

Barasa further stated that many schools had been refurbished with modern facilities including tiled floors and cabro-paved compounds aimed at improving standards and creating a conducive atmosphere for learning.

The Bungoma gubernatorial hopeful said education remains among his top priorities and promised to expand development projects across the county if elected governor in 2027.

He assured residents that his administration would focus on improving healthcare services, supporting farmers, strengthening infrastructure, and investing heavily in education development.

“I urge the people of Bungoma to elect me as governor in 2027 so that we can deliver better services in health, agriculture, education, infrastructure and many other sectors,” Barasa said.

The legislator also used the opportunity to rally support for Majimbo Kalasinga, urging residents of Kabuchai Constituency to re-elect the area Member of Parliament in the next general election.

Barasa praised Kalasinga for what he termed as effective leadership and development-focused representation in Kabuchai Constituency.

He noted that leaders who prioritize wananchi’s needs deserve another term in office.
