Dr Moses Wetang’ula addressing MPs on Thursday at Mombasa.
MOMBASA, Kenya (Aug. 21, 2025)
Speaker Dr Moses Wetang’ula has called on Members of Parliament to uphold integrity and deliver on their mandate as the countdown to the 2027 general election begins.
Speaking at the Third Leadership Retreat in Mombasa, Wetang’ula warned lawmakers that “without integrity, leadership fails,” urging them to leave behind a worthy legacy in the 23 months remaining before the polls.
He emphasized the need for accountability under Chapter 6 of the Constitution and pointed to the new Conflict of Interest Act, 2025, as a tool to strengthen ethics in Parliament.
The retreat brought together House leadership to reflect on recent challenges, restore public trust and sharpen legislative priorities as the election season approaches.
Ends.
