“YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE”: Bobi Wine Fires Back at Muhoozi in Explosive X Spat

In a saga that feels more like a football derby than high politics, Uganda’s opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi(Bobi Wine )unleashed a blistering response to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, army chief and son of President Yoweri Museveni, escalating a social media feud that has set East Africa’s timelines ablaze.

The showdown kicked off when Muhoozi issued a 48‑hour ultimatum for Bobi Wine to surrender to police — a demand the opposition leader treated like spam and promptly rejected.

The general followed up with a warning that Bobi Wine would be treated “as an outlaw or rebel” if he didn’t comply, phrasing that, as one online wag noted, sounded like a dinner invitation gone horribly wrong.

Bobi Wine’s reply was anything but diplomatic:

“You ordered the raid on my house to harm me! I beat you at your own game and escaped … You will never escape the inevitable consequences of your atrocities against the people of Uganda. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY! … Anyway, I will resurface when I decide.”

The tone suggested that, in Uganda’s political theatre, exit strategies are optional but dramatic entrances are mandatory.

The exchange drew reactions from both camps. Some Muhoozi supporters cheered the army chief’s tough posture, while others joked that the general seemed more suited for an action movie than government business.

Bobi Wine — or “Kabobi,” as Muhoozi dismissively calls him — was depicted alternately as a stubborn fugitive and a folk hero with the social media savvy to shame a tweeting general.

A Kenyan county assembly supporter added regional commentary: “Afande, you’re too agitated lately. Who hurt you?”

Another noted that the drama felt less like a constitutional crisis and more like a scripted spectacle.

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine’s camp accused security forces of raiding his home while he slept, cutting power and surveillance, prompting his escape.

Government officials dismissed the allegation as misleading.

Observers say the feud reflects broader electoral tensions after a contested vote in which President Museveni secured another term.

Bobi Wine accused the government of ballot stuffing and intimidation, fueling unease among the electorate and protesters alike.

Muhoozi, for his part, remains defiantly online, turning each post into a referendum on his authority.

In the end, no arrests were made in broad daylight, no boxing match was scheduled, and no one quit social media — not yet, anyway. But for several days, Uganda’s political narrative came with a side of memes, mockery, and enough dramatic flair to make professional showrunners jealous.

One thing is certain: in the age of X, even high-stakes politics cannot escape the irresistible pull of a good online fight — especially when one side writes in ALL CAPS.
