Senior leaders from Bungoma County, led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Senator David Wafula Wakoli and Women Representative Catherine Wambilianga, have sent condolences to Kanduyi MP John Makali following the death of his elder brother, retired teacher Patrick Wafula Makali.
Wetang’ula and Lusaka joined other county officials and Ford–Kenya leaders in visiting or contacting the family to offer solidarity.
While the two leaders did not issue direct public statements, their presence at the mourning events signaled unity and support for the MP during the difficult moment.
Senator Wakoli delivered the most comprehensive public tribute, describing the late Patrick as an exemplary educator whose life touched many across Bungoma.
“My heartfelt condolences to my brother, Hon. John Makali, MP Kanduyi, on the painful loss of his elder brother, the late Retired Mwalimu Patrick Wafula Makali,” Wakoli said. “Mwalimu Patrick was a gentle soul, a dedicated teacher, and a guiding light to many.
His passing leaves a deep void, but his kindness, service, and wisdom will live on in all whose lives he touched.
May his peaceful soul rest in eternal glory.”
Women Representative Catherine Wambilianga also shared a condolence message on her social-media page, noting the sorrow felt across the county.
Makali confirmed the death of his elder brother in a somber statement on Facebook, saying the family was “in profound sorrow” as it mourned the passing of “my elder brother, Retired Mwalimu Patrick Wafula Makali.”
