NAIROBI, Kenya (IP) — Veteran Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has reportedly died in India following a cardiac arrest.
According to early reports, Odinga, 80, collapsed during a morning walk while receiving medical treatment in Kochi. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Odinga, a former Prime Minister and five-time presidential contender, was a towering figure in Kenyan politics for decades.
His party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has not yet issued an official statement regarding the alleged incident.
Authorities and close family members are yet to confirm the reports as investigations continue.
